Local Tree Surgery Teams Who Know Swansea’s Trees
Swansea is one of the greenest cities in Wales. Victorian and Edwardian streets in the Uplands, Sketty and Brynmill sit around Singleton, Brynmill and Cwmdonkin parks, the wooded Clyne Valley runs down to the bay at Blackpill, and the gardens of Mumbles and Bishopston back onto oak, ash and sycamore woodland on the edge of Gower. Further up the Tawe and Loughor valleys, post-war estates in Morriston, Gorseinon and Clydach have matured into gardens full of birches, cherries, sycamores and conifer screens that have long outgrown their plots.
Our tree surgeons work in these gardens every week. They understand how trees on Swansea’s steep hillside plots have to be rigged and lowered, how coastal wind shapes the way a crown should be reduced, and why ash right across the area needs checking for dieback. Each job is quoted by someone who has looked at the tree, and carried out by an NPTC-qualified, fully insured team working to BS 3998.

Tree Surgery Questions, Answered
How much does a tree surgeon cost in Swansea?
Every tree is different, so we quote each job rather than publish a price list. As a guide, a hedge cut or small ornamental prune usually starts around £150–£250, a crown reduction on a typical garden tree is often £350–£750, and a full dismantle of a large mature tree in a tight back garden can run to £1,000 or more. Stump grinding is normally £80–£200 per stump. The quote covers labour, waste removal and site clean-up, with no add-ons once the team arrives.
Are your tree surgeons qualified and insured?
Yes. All work is carried out by NPTC-certified tree surgeons holding the relevant chainsaw, climbing and aerial rescue units, and every team is covered by £5 million public liability insurance plus employer’s liability. We are happy to send copies of certificates and insurance documents with your quote — always ask any contractor for these before work starts.
Can you work on trees close to my house, fence or neighbour’s garden?
This is most of the work we do. Swansea gardens are often small, terraced or steep, with little room to fell a tree in one piece, so our teams climb and dismantle in sections, lowering limbs on ropes and rigging so nothing lands on roofs, conservatories, greenhouses or boundary walls. Where the canopy overhangs a neighbour we can help you agree access and leave their side as tidy as yours.
Do you take the waste away?
Yes, unless you ask us not to. Brash is chipped on site and removed, timber is cut and taken away, and lawns and paths are cleared before we leave. If you would like logs for a wood-burner or chippings for beds, tell us and we’ll leave them stacked where you want them. Green waste is recycled rather than sent to landfill.
What if my tree has a Tree Preservation Order or I live in a conservation area?
Protected trees need written consent from the council before they can be pruned or removed, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks’ notice. We don’t submit these applications ourselves, but we’ll flag it if we think your tree may be covered so you can check with the council before booking. Once consent is in place, we carry out exactly what has been approved.
How quickly can you come out?
Quotes are usually arranged within two to three working days, and most jobs are booked in within one to two weeks depending on season. If you’re worried a tree is unsafe, say so when you get in touch and we’ll let the team know.
